Replacement steel rudder set up with hydraulic drive.

M&P Steelcraft Ltd was approached by Mr. Whittle of Warwickshire for a proposed steel rudder construction with built in hydraulic drive system, this was a little different than some of the conversions that had been done in past years, the first obstacle was to replicate the existing rudder in steel,  this was achieved and an removable top also fitted to access the two hydraulic hoses that power the gearbox, a third hose was also fitted as a vent to the internal seals.

The gearbox was mounted on 10mm hot rolled mild steel plates, and gussets fabricated it into place, a cavitations ring was fitted again 10mm thick and distanced away from the edge of the propeller approximately 10-12mm.

Mr. Whittle was very pleased with the out come of the project and he hopes to enjoy many years cruising on his now converted butty.

The pontoon that is featured in the pictures below was another one off project for gentleman living in Pewsey, Wiltshire, the gentleman had a small problem of transporting building materials to his house situated on the canal side, we constructed this small pontoon with out board motor mounting plates at each end, good strong "u" shaped tying rings for mooring and lashing down and numerous deck fixings for the fixing of canopy's in case of bad weather.

13ft 6" x 6ft 6" all steel pontoon.

Brackets either end of pontoon for out board motor mounting.

Ideal for work platforms or portable jetty's.
